About this event:
The Minden & District Horticultural Society looks forward to seeing you at the September General Meeting on Tuesday, September 5 at 7pm.
Our special guest for today is Joyce Higgs, who will be speaking to us about ‘Catherine Parr Traill Native Wildflowers‘. Catharine Parr Traill, pioneer writer and botanist, immigrated to Canada in 1832 and settled on the Otonabee River near Peterborough. She compiled her anecdotal, botanical descriptions in Canadian Wild Flowers (1867) and Studies of Plant Life in Canada (1885). Even in the last decade of her life two new books appeared, including Pearls and Pebbles (1894). Working well into her nineties, she was celebrated as the oldest author in the British Empire.
The refreshment for this meeting is ‘Veggie Vittles‘. We look forward to your tasty vegetable treats 🙂
